Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Changes have been made in Orchard Park, as the Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday the firing of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

Set to replace Dorsey as the offensive play-caller in the final seven games of the 2023 season is quarterbacks coach Joe Brady on an interim basis.

Following Tuesday's decision to let go of Dorsey, Bills head coach Sean McDermott felt it was a move that needed to be made for his group.

"It just got to be the right time," said McDermott via his weekly Zoom call with the media. "Lets see if we can get some energy in our offense."

Brady came to Buffalo just last season with NFL experience as an offensive coordinator. He spent parts of two years with the Carolina Panthers before being fired part way through the 2021 season.

When asked why now was the time for a change, McDermott offered less on specifics and more on what he hopes to see.

"I just felt like this was the right time," he said. "Certainly an unfortunate situation but overall trying to install some new energy in our offense and new confidence and new consistency in our production."

McDermott credited both to Brady and quarterback Josh Allen to building an already good relationship.

"I think Joe [Brady] and Josh [Allen] have a good relationship, and now it’s going to be taken to another level," McDermott said on Tuesday. "My hope is that connection will serve them well in this new challenge.”

The Bills will next take on the New York Jets at Highmark Stadium this coming Sunday for a 4:25 p.m. EST kickoff in Orchard Park.
