Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills will need to add some additional depth at the cornerback position at some point this offseason with Dane Jackson walking in free agency.

As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero and later posted by the team, Jackson has agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers. Pelissero further reports it's a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million.

Jackson was a former seventh-round pick of the Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. He eventually molded a nice role for himself on the roster as a depth corner that jump into a top-two role when needed.

In 52 career appearances with the Bills, Jackson made 28 starts at corner, registering 152 total tackles, 28 passes defended, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Jackson's best season in Buffalo came in 2022 when he earned a starting job for most of the season with cornerback Tre'Davious White battling back from a torn ACL. In 15 games played that year, Jackson started 14 games and put up 57 tackles and two interceptions.

The 27-year-old joins the Panthers and is reunited with general manager Dan Morgan, who was with the Bills during his rookie season in Buffalo as the team's director of player personnel.

The Bills still have six cornerbacks under contract ahead of the 2024 season, including Rasul Douglas, Christian Benford, Taron Johnson, Kaiir Elam, Ja’Marcus Ingram and Kyron Brown.
