According to a report from ESPN NFL reporter Field Yates, the Bills have restructured the contracts for cornerback Taron Johnson and offensive linemen Ryan Bates. This will create roughly $4.5 million of cap space that will make the Bills cap compliant for the 2023 season.
Johnson is signed with the Bills through the 2024 season with a base salary of $5.505 million this season. The 27-year-old has started 41 games over the last three seasons.
During his 2022 campaign with the Bills, Johnson started 15 out of 16 games, registering 90 combined tackles and an interception.
As for Bates, he is signed with the Bills through the 2025 campaign, and has been battling rookie O'Cyrus Torrence this preseason for the starting right guard spot.
The Bills open their regular season schedule this upcoming Monday against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kickoff is slated for 8:15 p.m. ET on the voice of the Bills - WGR Sports Radio 550.
