Alex Tuch named Sabres' nominee for King Clancy Award

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres have nominated forward Alex Tuch for the King Clancy Award this past season. It’s given annually to the player who "best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made noteworthy humanitarian contributions to his community."

Tuch formed the AT9 Foundation, is a non-profit which helps children that face challenges in their lives. The foundation also helps in the research of childhood cancer.

"During my first two seasons in Buffalo, I have had the pleasure of meeting and supporting many different nonprofit organizations and the incredible kids and adults they serve," said Tuch in a statement from the Sabres. "Each meeting left me feeling grateful to be a part of this community and inspired to do more to give back."

Tuch smashed his career highs in goals, assists and points this past year, scoring 36 goals and 43 assists for 79 points in 74 games.

Rob Ray is the only Sabres player that has won the award back in 1999.

Tuch is currently playing for Team USA at the World Championship. The Americans are playing Tuesday in an exhibition game.
