Jack Eichel is Sabres' nominee for King Clancy Trophy

The trophy is for the player that shows leadership and commitment to his community

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – Jack Eichel is the Buffalo Sabres' nominee for the 2020-21 King Clancy Memorial Trophy. All the nominees are selected by the teams. The trophy is for the player that best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made noteworthy humanitarian contributions in his community.

The NHL says that there are a certain criteria that will be used to select the winner:

1.) Clear and measurable positive impact on the community
2.) Investment of time and resources
3.) Commitment to a particular cause or community
4.) Commitment to the league’s community initiatives
5.) Creativity of programming
6.) Use of influence; engagement of others

Ryan O’Reilly was also nominated by the St. Louis Blues. O’Reilly was always generous with his time for charities when he played in Buffalo.

Rob Ray is the only Sabres player to have ever won the award back in 1999.
