Boston, Mass. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres have made a trade for a bottom-six forward, acquiring Eric Robinson from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

In order to make room for Robinson, the Sabres have assigned forward Brandon Biro back to the Rochester Americans.

Robinson is big, and is an excellent skater to get in on the forecheck. However, he doesn’t want anything to do with the rough stuff. This year, he fell out of favor with the Blue Jackets, and wound up being waived and sent to the Cleveland Monsters.

In seven games with Columbus, Robinson had one goal and one point. Meanwhile, in nine games with Cleveland, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound winger had one goal and three assists for four points.

Last season, the 28-year-old played 72 games with Columbus, scoring 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points.

Robinson signed in 2018 as a college free agent following four years at Princeton University. In 266 NHL games, he has 38 goals and 44 assists for 82 points.

His only NHL hat-trick came last February in Buffalo against the Sabres.

The Sabres will next take on the Bruins on Thursday night in Boston for a 7 p.m. EST faceoff.
