Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Not only were the Buffalo Sabres busy with the NHL Trade Deadline on Friday, they also got another one of their unrestricted free agents signed to a new deal.
Sabres winger Jason Zucker has inked a new two-year contract with the team worth a total of $9.5 million.
Zucker has maintained all along that he likes the team in Buffalo, and wanted to stay. He came to Buffalo this past offseason on a one-year contract worth $5 million. It looks like he took a little less money to get a second year on his contract.
The 33-year-old winger leads the Sabres with nine power play goals, and is second on the team with 16 power play points.
In 54 games this season, Zucker has 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points.
Zucker has missed the last five games after blocking a shot. He won’t be ready yet for Saturday when the Sabres take on the Panthers in Florida.
In 751 career games with the Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators, Zucker has scored 214 goals and added 200 assists for 414 points.
