Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – Malcolm Subban will not be back with the Rochester Americans next season after signing with the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
It appears the likely tandem in the AHL next season will feature Saturday's free agent signees Dustin Tokarski and Devin Cooley.
The Buffalo Sabres have also announced the signing of forward Justin Richards to a one-year contract. All three signings carry an average annual value of $775,000.
After two years with the Sabres organization, Tokarski went to the Pittsburgh Penguins last offseason, where he played four games in the NHL and 36 games in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
With the Penguins, Tokarski was 1-2-0 with a 3.44 goals-against average and an .897 save percentage. With Wilkes-Barre-Scranton, he was 12-16-7 with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.

Cooley has never played in the NHL. With the Milwaukee Admirals this past season, he was 15-8-2 with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. In the playoffs, he was 2-2-0 with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
The 26-year-old played three seasons at the University of Denver before being signed by the Nashville Predators in 2020.
As for Richards, 25-year-old was signed in 2020 by the New York Rangers after playing three seasons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Richards played one game with the Rangers and two games with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He had one assist for both teams.
In 148 games with the Hartford Wolfpack and Cleveland Monsters, the center had 20 goals and 44 assists for 64 points.
