Second-year Patriots left tackle and former first-round pick Isaiah Wynn was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 17, two days after suffering the a foot injury in the Week 2 win in Miami.
Now, six weeks later, the young offensive lineman who missed all of last season with a torn Achilles is eligible by NFL rule to return to the practice field to prepare for a potential return to the active roster, which would be allowed after eight weeks on IR.
In his Monday morning day-after-game conference call following the impressive 27-13 win over the Browns, Bill Belichick sounded open to the idea that Wynn could return to practice, though in typical fashion remained somewhat non-committal.
"I think he's eligible," Belichick said. "So it's a possibility. We'll see how it goes."
Each NFL team can designate two players to return from IR each season. New England already used one of those slots on rookie wide receiver N'Keal Harry, who has been taking part in practices the last two weeks in Foxborough.
