The Bruins couldn't buy a goal in Game 3. Whether it was a post, Sergei Bobrovsky, or both, the Bruins came up short when it came to putting pucks in the net Tuesday night and fell to the Blue Jackets 2-1. Columbus now leads the series 2-1.
The same storylines from Games 1 and 2 carried over to Game 3. The star players for the Blue Jackets rose to the occasion while the big names on Boston were nowhere to be found.
But, the biggest storyline was Bobrovsky. He stopped all but one of 37 shots from the Bruins and was spectacular from start to finish. At the other end, Tuukka Rask stopped 32 of 34 shots.

Scott Harrington tossed a pass up to Riley Nash who left it it for a streaking Boone Jenner. With just Connor Clifton between him and Rask, Jenner caught Clifton flat-footed on the fake shot, flipped the puck to his left and slid it past Rask.

— Pete Blackburn (@PeteBlackburn) April 30, 2019Just about halfway through the second period with the score 1-0 Columbus, Brad Marchand made a trip to the box for hi-sticking Jenner.
On that power play, the Bruins dodged a bullet when Zdeno Chara stopped an attempt on the goal line by Jenner.

— Pete Blackburn (@PeteBlackburn) May 1, 2019Shortly after, a mad scramble ensued in front of Rask and the puck landed on Matt Duchene's stick. The trade deadline acquisition slammed it past Rask to make it 2-0.

— Boston Bruins on CLNS (@BruinsCLNS) May 1, 2019Through two periods, the Bruins only got one lucky break and it was their one goal for the night. Jake DeBrusk cut to the net and jammed a shot past Bobrovsky that was initially waved off, but after replay showed the puck clearly crossed the goal line the call was overturned and the Bruins were awarded the goal, cutting the lead to 2-1. For DeBrusk, it was only his third point of the postseason.
That was all the scoring there would be, though, as Bobrovsky (and the post and crossbar behind him) was up to every challenge the remainder of the night.
The Bruins will look to tie the series on Thursday night in Columbus.
