Bruins sweep Hurricanes, advance to Stanley Cup Final

The Bruins are heading to the Stanley Cup Final after beating the Hurricanes 4-0 and sweeping them in the Eastern Conference Final. 

The scoring didn't start until the second period. But when it did, it was how the B's seem to score all their goals these days -- on the power play. 

First it was Jordan Staal being the sixth man on the ice for the Canes, causing Carolina to go down a man. On the power play, the Bruins cashed in when David Pastrnak tipped home a Brad Marchand pass to make it 1-0.

Later in the period, Greg McKegg barreled into Tuukka Rask, earning him two minutes for goaltender interference. 

Once again, the B's capitalized. This time it was Patrice Bergeron.

Bergeron put the nail in the coffin late in the third period when he received a pass from Pastrnak and one-timed it past McElhinney.

Marchand added an empty-netter to make it 4-0. 

Unlike Game 3, the Bruins didn't give up 20 shots in the first period. Despite the Hurricanes extended zone time during certain instances, the Bruins led the Canes in high-danger chances 10-1 after two periods. 

Tuukka Rask was the self we've all become accustomed to, stopping all 24 shots he faced. Curtis McElhinney was also great early on, including an unreal glove save on Marchand, but finished the night with three goals allowed on 23 shots.

The Bruins will get a long rest before the Stanley Cup Final, as the Western Conference Final between the San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues could go long.

It's the third Bruins Cup appearance in nine years.
