BBQFest heats up the mountain with daily competitions. Whether you’re a pro or a first-time tosser, don’t miss the annual Keg Tossing competition. Line up at 2:00pm Saturday and Sunday to win bragging rights and prizes for the furthest throw. Rounds for both Ladies and Men.
For those that dare, the third annual Hot Wings Eating Competition is back and bigger than ever both afternoons at 3:30pm. Be the first to clean the bones from ten white-hot wings, including a lava-level signature made by Worcester’s own Scovie Award Winners ‘Bali Marle’. Guests can stop by their booth to sample a taste of the real deal.
BBQFest features two daily blocks of live music hosted in our brand-new Skyride Pavilion. New England Award winners Los Sugar Kings kick off Sunday with a funky blend of reggae, rock and R&B. On Sunday, talented local Charley Carozzo leads with Southern-fried blues and rock with hometown favorite Way Up South.
Soar high on the Skyride, Wachusett’s state-of-the-art new summit lift featuring six-pack chairs that fit the whole family. This gentle ride offers unparalleled views of the valley, and the beautiful Fall foliage is already starting to poke through.
Guests looking for a thrill closer to earth won’t want to miss the Animal Adventures show at 1:00pm both afternoons. Get up close and personal with some creepy-crawly creatures, including snakes and alligators.
Kids have a blast at BBQFest too! The little ones can party in the bounce house, try their hand at inflatable axe throwing, participate in daily rounds of Tug-of-War, and dig around in our Giant Sandbox. There’s also rounds of daily Tug-of-War and plenty of lawn games. The best part, kids 5 & Under enter for free!
BBQFest traditionally marks the start of Fall on the mountain. Every year when there’s a little chill in the air and the leaves start to change, some of the biggest names in Massachusetts barbeque bring their smokers and grills to the mountain.
In addition to great barbeque, guests can enjoy festival favorites like kettle corn, ice cream, homemade chocolates, beef jerky, and ice-cold beer, including the start of Pumpkin brew season!
Those visiting from all around Massachusetts can check the Ski Train schedule to find out how to be shuttled to and from nearby Wachusett Station. Parking at the mountain is always free.
BBQFest's premiere sponsor is Sticky Fingers BBQ Sauce. Hungry guests can visit the Sticky Fingers tent near the white patio tent to choose from seven southern-style sauces slathered over smokey Wachusett Mountain brisket.
