The Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets gave everyone some free hockey in Game 1.
The Bruins would emerge victorious in overtime when Charlie Coyle scored his second of the night on a tip-in to cap off a 3-2 win.

Just about halfway through the first period, the Bruins took a too many men on the ice penalty while on a power play to make it a 4-on-4. That's not the best way to prove experience.
But the Bruins' experience redeemed itself while killing off the penalty when Noel Acciari scored one shorthanded to make it 1-0 Bruins.

— Pete Blackburn (@PeteBlackburn) April 25, 2019The goal began after a great poke check by Charlie McAvoy at his own blue line. It turned into a 2-on-1 and an early lead for the black and gold.
The B's were in top gear for the entire first period, as they outshot the Blue Jackets 9-1 through the first 10 minutes and 14-4 after the first 20.
But in the third period, things took a turn.
It all started when Coyle turned the puck over at his own blue line. Riley Nash forced the turnover and then tipped home the eventual goal to tie the game.

— Pete Blackburn (@PeteBlackburn) April 26, 2019Then just 13 seconds later Artemi Panarin came over the Bruins blue line and ripped a slapshot that deflected off Pierre-Luc Dubois past Tuukka Rask to make it 2-1.

And then the tide would shift once again.
The Bruins showed resiliency with five minutes to play in the third when Coyle slapped home a one-timer from Marcus Johansson. That got a then-dormant TD Garden crowd onto their feet and rocking.

— Pete Blackburn (@PeteBlackburn) April 26, 2019Come game's end, the Bruins had outshot the Blue Jackets 37-22. Sergei Bobrovsky stood on his head for the Jackets, stopping 34 of 37 shots. Rask stopped 20 of 22.
The physicality was ramped up from the drop of the puck since both head coaches started their fourth lines. In an unexpected turn of events, Torey Krug landed the first big hit.
