Marcus Morris played a significant role for the Celtics, particularly this postseason, but he sees the looming roster crunch as clearly as anyone.

Speaking to the Boston Globe on Monday, Morris expressed skepticism that he fits a rotation that will see Gordon Hayward return next season and Jayson Tatum receive a bump in responsibilities and minutes.

"I'm just not sure," Morris told the Globe's Adam Himmelsbach. "There's going to be a lot of players next year, so I'm not 100 percent sure where I fit totally yet. It's just something I'm still kind of wary about."

Morris emerged as a stopper on the league's best defense and briefly gave LeBron James trouble in the conference finals before King James overwhelmed Morris, along with the rest of the roster. The rugged 6-foot-9 forward averaged 13.6 points a game and shot .368 from behind the 3-point line during the regular season before making over 40 percent of his 3-pointers in the playoffs. He also delivered one of the signature moments of the year when his buzzer-beating 3-pointer knocked off the Thunder in March.

The 28-year-old has one year and a little over $5 million remaining on his contract. Speaking to reporters at the team's breakup press conference on Monday in Waltham, Morris praised Celtics fans.

"Playing in Boston is special," he said. "I've been around a lot of places, but Boston has definitely been my favorite."
