-- Rob Gronkowski was at the Belmont Stakes on Saturday to watch his namesake horse race and was asked by NBC Boston for his thoughts on Julian Edelman’s suspension for violating NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
The Patriots tight end said he hasn’t spoken with his teammate and the situation isn’t ideal.
“It’s an unfortunate situation but he’s a hard worker,” Gronkowski said. “He’ll have to speak for himself.”
Edelman apologized for the violation on Instagram but said he wasn’t sure how it happened. Gronkowski was asked if he could understand a mistake like this happening.
“Mistakes do happen,” Gronkowski said. “I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my life. Just gotta learn from them. It’s just a situation, I mean, we hope the best.”
The former Patriot and the former Miss Universe broke up about three months ago right after Amendola signed with the Dolphins. Amendola sparked the breakup rumors when he unfollowed Culpo on Instagram and deleted all pictures with her from his account.
