Bruins 2018 third-round draft pick (No. 77) Jakub Lauko joined the Czech Republic team for the IIHF World Junior Championship in his native country on loan from Providence of the AHL this week.
But it looks like the speedy forward's tournament may have ended before it barely got started.
Lauko injured his MCL 53 seconds into the Czech's 4-3 win against Russia on Thursday. He's scheduled to have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury, according to Russian reporter Igor Eronko.
Varada (of course it was him, autocorrection) also said: 'From the first prognosis from the doctor that will keep Jakub Lauko out of the tournament. But will do a MRI tomorrow so we'll see' #WorldJuniors2020 #NHLBruins https://t.co/oUW261ghi1
— Igor Eronko (@IgorEronko) December 26, 2019The injury occurred during a neutral-zone collision. There was no penalty called, and it wasn't apparent that one should've been called.
