Patrice Bergeron will 'wait and see' whether he can practice with Bruins

Patrice Bergeron revealed earlier this week that his balky groin needed a Platelet Rich Plasma injection in July but was still bothering entering training camp.

Although he's been skating semi-regularly, Bergeron was unsure Thursday if he'd be able to join the rest of the Bruins for their first on-ice practices Friday.

"I think that was something that we talked about," Bergeron said after the Bruins went through their off-ice testing Thursday. "I might be in a group [Friday> and then take the next day off and be with [skills coach> Kim [Brandvold> sometimes also.

"So it's going to be kind of a wait-and-see but you know I guess I'm on board with whatever they decide and the plan is to I guess ramp things up and think about October rather than right now."

Bergeron isn't the only banged-up Bruins player as they return to start the next season less than three months since losing Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to St. Louis.

*Kevan Miller had two knee surgeries in the spring and hasn't resumed skating. He still has several hurdles to clear before he can even begin to consider being ready for opening night, Oct 3 at Dallas.

He's been encouraged, though, by his recent progress.

"Yeah, definitely. Day to day, week to week, especially lately," Miller said. "The first couple months there was a lot of the same stuff over and over and over. I was on crutches and things like that. But now that I'm able to move around and work out and move some weight and do some stuff, it's encouraging, I'm feeling a lot better."

*John Moore (shoulder surgery), of course, won't be on the ice. Joakim Nordstrom (foot) may also start out slowly when on-ice activities start, according to coach Bruce Cassidy. Matt Grzelcyk, who sustained an undisclosed injury in the offseason, might be in the same boat as Bergeron, waiting to see what the doctors plan for him.
