May 5, 2020 Kinda feels like new comics day. Or Christmas Eve. Or the night before your birthday. Or some sort of day that's full of excitement and potential and the promise of the return of something you love, in this case our favorite live sport, the distraction of which takes us away momentarily from the frustrations surrounding our current global health and financial crisis, not to mention quarantine and, well...you get it. It's football. And though the NFL is discussing contingency plans on having to delay or alter the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic (not to mention ticket refunds if fans can't attend) what they're releasing tonight is the full 17 week schedule, as planned, maybe with fans, the way it was intended. Whether or not that happens isn't a now question. Now is about football fantasies.
So many questions! Who will Stidham get his first NFL start against, and where? When will Jimmy G come to town? How do they handle the two West Coast trips? What kind of national attention do the Pats get in the first season post-GOAT? And speaking of Warm Weather Tom...how much primetime love for The Tompa Bay Gronkaneers? We're setting the O/U 4.5 nationally televised games. Gotta love Brady vs. Brees twice this season.
While there are dozens of fake scheduling leaks to be found online, one that found the light of digital day Wednesday comes from a pretty credible source.
.@JohnClaytonNFL tells @937theFan that the NFL schedule will be NFC vs AFC for the 1st 4 weeks of the season. Steelers play the NFC East. So 1st 4 games would be Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, and Giants.

May 6, 2020 If this is true, and the NFL is knocking out all out of conference games first, then that means the Patriots first four games would be against the Rams, 49ers, Cardinals and Seahawks. Garoppolo @ Stidham opener? Kick off with a Super Bowl 53 rematch in the fancy new Rams SoFi Stadium? Normally we'd be excited to learn the schedule. But now, in absence of baseball and hockey/basketball playoffs, the schedule for the Pats after Brady is LIFE.

May 6, 2020 STICKIN' WITH STIDHAM
Former Utah/Florida/Ohio State coach, and friend of Belichick, Urban Meyer was a guest on "The Herd" Wednesday, and spoke glowingly of the potential for Jarrett Stidham to succeed with the Patriots. Why? All about the braintrust.
"You put Jarrett Stidham with Bill Belichick, Josh McDaniels & that system, get ready... They're going to make that QB a great player." —@CoachUrbanMeyer pic.twitter.com/W8kyP35I2I

May 6, 2020 THROWBACK THURSDAY
The Legend of Larry Bird seems to be getting some extra shine in the days of "The Last Dance" on ESPN. Which is great, because people seem to forget just how dominant, how uniquely incredible Larry Bird was. And this particular feat, which just wreaks of Bird's confidence (his well-earned cockiness was up there with MJ's) deserves all the attention it's gotten. And then some. I mean, is there anything you can do with your opposite hand half as well?
In 1986, Larry Bird decided to play left-handed against the Blazers and “save his right hand” for the Lakers two nights later. He finished with:◽️ 47 PTS, 14 REB, 11 AST◽️ 10 of 21 FG made leftyThat was a bad man.(via @NBAhistory)pic.twitter.com/T0Y0ZtOSfl

May 5, 2020 BECAUSE YOU NEED THIS
From the "Feel Good Dep't: Basketball Division" something that should just put a smile on your face because. And worry not; this took place three years ago, but somehow just made the rounds.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"When you take the elevator to the top, please remember to send it back down so someone else might use it." - Former NBA center Dikembe Mutombo, whose Denver Nuggets became the first #8 seed to knock a No. 1 seed (Seattle) from the playoffs on this date in 1994.
