The 2019 portion of Memphis’ schedule came to a close on Sunday. Heading into 2020, the Grizzlies currently sit at 13-21. Right now, they're the No. 11 team in the Western Conference.
If the season were to end before gameplay on Tuesday, the Grizzlies would be tied at No. 11 with the Bulls for the NBA Lottery.
That’s right, not only does it look like the pick will convey in 2020, but the Grizzlies might not even hand the Celtics a top-10 pick.
And with Aron Baynes’ Suns (13-20) trending in the wrong direction and both the Blazers (14-20) and Spurs (13-18) still playing sub-.500 ball, the Grizzlies even have an outside chance at being a playoff team — which takes them out of the NBA Lottery altogether.
The Grizzlies start 2020 in Sacramento (12-21), then visit the Clippers (23-11) before stopping in Phoenix.
