There have been plenty of reports and theories floated out regarding why Tom Brady chose to leave New England for Tampa Bay. Virtually all of them have been met with silence from the quarterback, whose approach has usually been to ignore and move on.

Then came Monday.

Following the Gary Myers tweet saying that the relationship with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was a reason for Brady's decision to move on, the former Pats QB took to social media to refute the narrative.

I’m posting this twice - once for Brady and once for McDaniels - so we can push past the fake news, appreciate what was great and move on. I’m more apt to believe Brady than second hand fake news.

So, why the different approach this time around? Appearing on the Greg Hill Show Tuesday morning, former Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light has his theories.

"I think there are two reasons," Light said. "No. 1, he’s not in New England anymore. He can do whatever the hell he wants. Say it. Spray it out there. Get it off your chest. Let it happen. Just say what you want to say. No. 2, it means something to him. Josh and Tom did it a very high level for a long time. Certain things hit home more than others and when it’s somebody you care about or you believe in or you have a lot of trust with you do those kind of things."

Light, who played with Brady from 2001-11, also offered some insight into how the QB always fit into the Patriots' locker room.

"Tommy was always kind of a recluse," he said. "He would just kind of keep to himself. He was never one of those guys who was like, 'Let's go fire up 40 beers!' No. It was like, 'Let's do electrolyte shots and stay out of the sun!' I wouldn't say it changed. Maybe he was a little more out there in his younger years but as he kind of matured and got older, it was really all about his system. He's very methodical. I don't know, he's kind of like the super nerd of quarterbacks."

The former Patriot also passed on the opportunity to support "The Matt Light Foundation" with its latest raffle, which offers the opportunity to be flown down to Tampa Bay to attend the Buccaneers' game against the Saints and then meet Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Light's former college teammate Drew Brees.
