FOXBOROUGH -- After the Patriots placed wide receiver Josh Gordon on injured reserve last week, he was officially released Thursday.
When asked about the move Friday, Bill Belichick didn't offer up much.
"We released him because he was healthy. Passed his physical," he said.
Since Gordon was released past the trade deadline, he will need to pass through waivers so any team across the league can claim him. If he clears waivers, then he would become a free agent.
As for what it was like working with him over the last year-plus, Belichick didn't give much on that, either.
"That's all in the past," he said. "Looking at Baltimore at this point. We've had a lot of guys who have been here in the last year and a half."
In six games this year, Gordon recorded 20 receptions for 287 yards and one touchdown. Overall, in 17 games with the Patriots Gordon totaled 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and three touchdowns.
