Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Rob Gronkowski, is trying to spin the trade to Tampa Bay as he did the Patriots a favor.

"Rob is a very classy guy with the way he handled this,” Rosenhaus said on Tuesday night's edition of SportsCenter. “Rob could have come out of retirement, become reinstated, and put the Patriots in a tough situation cap-wise, but he decided not to do that. He decided to be patient and really allow this to work out."

Since the Patriots have just over $1 million in cap space and Gronkowski has a $10 million cap hit for 2020, if he would have been reinstated it would have really hampered the Patriots financially. The trade made it so Gronkowski's cap hit didn't go on the Patriots' books in any way.

Rosenhaus said Gronkowski has no ill will towards Bill Belichick and the Patriots, and that he's just excited to reunite with Brady.

"He loves New England," he said. "He loves the Patriots organization, Coach (Bill) Belichick, the Krafts, his teammates that are still there. He had an amazing run in New England. It was just time for him to continue his career with Tom Brady in Florida with Tampa. It was something cool and exciting and challenging for him. He’s well-rested and looking forward to playing with Tom.”

The Buccaneers immediately saw their Super Bowl odds increase with Gronkowski now in the mix.
