FOXBORO -- An interesting name will be at Gillette Stadium Friday.
According to multiple reports, former Raiders second-round pick safety Obi Melifonwu is visiting the Patriots Friday. The UConn product has only played in five career games due to injury.
Last year, he finished the year on injured reserve and then was placed on injured reserve again in August. He was ultimately released Oct. 23 as Jon Gruden is cleaning house.
The Patriots potentially could have a need at safety with Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon and Patrick Chung all getting up there in age.
Melifonwu is an athletic freak who could potentially help a team if healthy.
