The Celtics hired Kara Lawson as their first woman assistant coach in franchise history prior to this season and it appears she's on her way out of the organization to take the next step in her career.
According to multiple reports, Lawson likely will be named the head coach of the Duke women's basketball team.
The 39-year-old had an extensive playing career before she became a commentator for ESPN.
Per the Raleigh News & Observer, Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca, who is a Duke Board of Trustees member, pushed for the school to hire Lawson.
The Celtics are currently in Orlando gearing up for the NBA's restart, which will begin July 31 for the team when they take on the Bucks.
