Everyone meets with everyone at the NFL Combine so not much should be made of players meeting with certain teams, but with that being said, one particular meeting stood out from a Patriots perspective.
Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, one of the best QBs in the entire draft and likely a top-10 selection, was asked by NBC Sports' Peter King who he met at the combine that he really wanted to meet with ahead of time, or that was most impressive and his answer was rather interesting.
“Coach McDaniels with the Patriots," Herbert said. "That’s a guy I’ve always watched, always looked up to. I love their offense.”
Herbert completed 67 percent of his passes last fall for 3,471 yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The Patriots really do not have any shot at landing Herbert unless they trade up inside the top-10 to get him. But, this isn't the first time the Patriots and McDaniels have met with a top quarterback who they really had no shot in landing. Just a few years ago a lot was made of McDaniels meeting with Baker Mayfield.
