The Patriots have made their first addition in free agency.
According to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo, the team is signing former Cardinals wide receiver Damiere Byrd to a one-year deal.
The 27-year-old, who stands 5-foot-9, is coming off a season where he caught 32 passes for 359 yards and one touchdown in 11 games. While he didn't do much of it last year, he has experience returning kicks and punts.
Prior to Arizona, he spent his first three seasons in the league with Carolina, but dealt with multiple injuries, including breaking his arm two different times that landed him on injured reserve.
Byrd will likely compete for a roster spot over the summer.
