Defensive tackle is a position lacking depth for the Patriots at the moment and it appears the team is at least thinking about it.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots had defensive tackle Xavier Williams in for a tryout Wednesday. The 28-year-old has played for the Cardinals and Chiefs during his five-year career. With Kansas City last year he appeared in five games and had eight tackles. His best season came in 2018 when he had 47 tackles.
The position was already thin to begin with in New England and with free agent addition Beau Allen not being on the field yet, it becomes even more of a concern.
Second-year player Byron Cowart has seen a lot opportunities in the sessions this week given Allen's absence and a general lack of depth.
The team has open roster spots so a player can be added at any time.
