Heading into last Sunday's game, the talk surrounding the Patriots was Tom Brady's right elbow.
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported he couldn't finish practice Friday and Jarrett Stidham got the majority of the first-team reps. Brady was listed as questionable for the game, but obviously played.
Appearing on Westwood One Radio prior to Monday Night Football, Brady shared a little more on his thought process in terms of injuries.
"I like to believe that over the years I have gotten a little bit smarter about how to take care of myself," he said. "I know when I need a little time and I know if it is a day or a practice rather be stubborn through things like I probably used to. I think it's smart to get ahead of injuries, and I spent a lot of time with Alex (Guerrero) getting extra treatment. I did so after the game (Sunday) night and did so (Monday).
"I'll be good this week. I will be excited to take on our toughest challenge of the year and go into Houston and try and win a game on Sunday Night Football."
Brady also responded to the notion that a lot of his weapons have been taken away from him this season (Josh Gordon, Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski, Chris Hogan, etc.).
"I would say the guys that I am in there with and play with, they are fighting hard and they are battling," he said. "I love being out there with them. I have had a lot of challenges over the course of my career, my teams have. We're not listening to anyone outside of our locker room. We're ignoring the noise. We've talked about that. We have a belief of the things we need to do and we're going to work hard to make those things happen. I am proud of our record. We're 10-1. We've got 53 guys on the roster. It is the ultimate team sport. That's what it's about. It's about the team — T-E-A-M.
"You try to win the game however you can. Every week it is going to be a little bit different and we're playing against great caliber opponents that have incredible amounts of talent, disciplined, well-coached, and I am just happy we're finding ways to win. That is what we're going to need to continue to do."
Brady and the Patriots will travel to Houston this Sunday night.
