Maybe there's more to the belief that this Patriots team is different.

When the NFL announced its Pro Bowl players Tuesday night, the Patriots only had two players selected -- Tom Brady and Stephon Gilmore.

For Brady, it is his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl and 14th overall, which ties Peyton Manning, offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, defensive tackle Merlin Olsen and tight end Tony Gonzalez for the most appearances all-time. The 41-year-old got the nod despite being tied for 17th in completion percentage, fifth in yards, tied for 10th in touchdown passes, and 12th in quarterback rating.

The other AFC quarterbacks are Patrick Mahomes and Philip Rivers.

It's Gilmore's second Pro Bowl nod, with his previous time coming in 2016 when he was with the Bills. He has two interceptions and 18 passes defensed.

The two players for the Patriots are the fewest since 2008 when they also had two.
