After 20 seasons in the NHL, former Bruins forward Jarome Iginla is hanging up the skates. He’s set to announce his retirement at a press conference hosted by the Flames July 30.
Iginla, 41, amassed 625 goals and 675 assists for 1,300 points in 1,554 games. He spent majority of his career -- 16 seasons -- with the Flames, but had a solid season with the Bruins in 2013-14. He had 30 goals and 31 assists for 61 points in 78 games, and 5-2--7 in 12 playoff games (at age 36, mind you). He also had stints in Pittsburgh, Colorado, and Los Angeles.
"It's been a fun adventure, for my family and I. Some great cities, great people," Iginla told NHL.com.
Iginla was a six-time NHL All-Star, ranks 15th all-time for goals, and is a future first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.
He last played with the Kings in 2016-17 -- he did not play in the NHL last season due to a hip resurfacing procedure. His retirement wasn’t certain then, and he sparked some Bruins’ fans hopes and dreams when he was seen practicing with the AHL Bruins in Providence last February.

February 20, 2018 "For sure, it took me a while to just let it go, losing. From seven years of missing the playoffs to almost winning it. And it does still sting a little bit. I've always dreamt of being on a Stanley Cup-winning team. That always stayed with me,” Iginla told NHL.com. "I know now that dream isn't coming true. But if you said when I started that I was going to play 20 years, experience what I have, I'd have taken it in a heartbeat.”
He obviously won’t be wearing the spoked B, but Iginla will return to Boston. He lives here with his wife, Kara, and their three children.
