Oliver Ekman-Larsson and his agent set a Friday deadline for the Arizona Coyotes to get a trade done, saying if nothing happened by the time free agency opened, he would be staying put.
Well, free agency opened at noon, and sure enough word came down almost immediately that Ekman-Larsson wasn't going anywhere.
"Time's up," his agent, Kevin Epps, told Coyotes insider Craig Morgan.
The Bruins were one of two teams for whom Ekman-Larsson agreed to waive his no-trade clause, with the Vancouver Canucks being the other.
The final reports late Thursday were that the Coyotes were waiting for the Bruins to make their move, but that the Bruins didn't like the asking price. The Canucks had reportedly made their final offer, but Arizona wanted more.
In the end, it appears no one budged, so no trade.
It will now be interesting to see where the Bruins shift their focus. Obviously they could circle back to Torey Krug, who is now on the open market. Or they could go in a different direction.
