There's been a whirlwind of speculation in recent days about the vaccination status of certain Celtics players. On Wednesday, Al Horford provided clarity on his situation.
The veteran big man told reporters he is vaccinated and eligible to play in Toronto, where unvaccinated visitors are barred. The Celtics could face the Raptors in a first-round playoff series (the Celtics are currently the No. 4 seed and the Raptors are No. 6).
"We're clear on it. And I'll be ready to play wherever," Horford said.
The Celtics curiously scratched Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Horford from their lineup for Monday's road game against the Raptors. Robert Williams was out with a sprained left knee.
ESPN NBA Insiders Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst both questioned this week whether the Celtics' trio of stars are vaccinated. They said the Celtics declined comment when asked directly about the matter.
Bontemps wrote a follow-up article Wednesday, once again reporting the Celtics declined to say whether their entire team was vaccinated. Sources told ESPN Williams is vaccinated.
Tatum said he's vaccinated at Celtics media day, but added that it was a personal decision. Brown didn't disclose his status when asked at the time.
Interestingly enough, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka said Sunday night everybody would be able to play a postseason games in Toronto.
"Canada could change their rules, but we're looking at our guys available to play," he said. "All our guys, if healthy, are available to play."
We know Horford is.
