With Ime Udoka expected to miss the entirety of 2022-23 for his role in a consensual relationship with a female staff member (per ESPN), the Celtics need someone to handle head-coaching duties this season.

Although it wasn’t long ago Brad Stevens handled those duties, he will not be the one to fill in for Udoka. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting Joe Mazzulla will serve as the franchise’s interim head coach throughout 2022-23.

Mazzulla has been with the franchise since 2019 after leaving the college ranks. The Bishop Hendricken alum was made Udoka’s head assistant after Will Hardy departed for the head coaching position in Utah, a job Mazzulla was also a candidate for.
