After defending Draymond for years, the Warriors have lost the moral high ground

Steve Kerr and Klay Thompson dedicated their post-game pressers Wednesday night to tsk-tsking Celtics fans for being mean.

But they lost the moral high ground years ago. Kerr and Thompson two have defended Draymond Green after he's committed flagrant fouls and kicked opponents in the groin. Their words about vulgar chants ring hollow.

"We've played in front of rude people before," Thompson whined Wednesday. "Dropping F-bombs with children in the crowd. Real classy. Good job, Boston."

Thompson ignored the fact that Green swore in his own press conference with his young son sitting beside him, by the way. It was just another example of the hypocrisy emanating from Golden State's side.

Six years ago, when LeBron James express displeasure about Green's trash-talking and groin kicking, Thompson told him to get over it.

"I guess his feelings just got hurt," Thompson said in 2016, per the New York Times. "Guys talk trash in this league all the time. I'm just kind of shocked some guys take it so personal. I mean, it's a man's league, and I've heard a lot of bad things on that court. But at the end of the day, it stays on the court."

Apparently, that "man's league" has now turned PG, at least in Thompson's eyres. Think of the children!

Kerr also admonished the Garden crowd for chanting "F— you Draymond!"

"Classy. Very classy," he said sarcastically.

Earlier this season, Kerr chided Marcus Smart after he landed on Steph Curry's knee diving for a loose ball. While the Warriors were understandably upset that Curry was lost for the season, it's apparent that Smart just made a hustle play.

But not in Kerr's eyes. "I thought it was a dangerous play," he told reporters in March.

Yet, what did Kerr have to say when Green kicked Thunder center Steven Adams in the groin during the 2016 Western Conference Finals?

"Stuff like that happens all the time," Kerr said, via ESPN. "There's contact, people's arms, legs flailing. If they think it's on purpose, play the game, you know. This stuff happens all the time."

Interesting. Kicking players near their private area is fine, but diving for a loose ball is "dangerous." And fans swearing at players is beyond the pale.

The Warriors should stop with the disingenuous finger-wagging.
