Early Monday morning, Bill Belichick said on The Greg Hill Show that he did not want Tom Brady to leave and ultimately the Buccaneers were a better option for him following the 2019 season.

The coach then had a video conference with reporters and he was asked why the Patriots weren't the better option.

“I am not going to go back and rehash all that," Belichick said. "We’ve talked about that. My focus is on the game here, and look, I have so much respect and appreciation for Tom and everything he did here and for me and for our team. We’re just getting ready for Tampa this week and we’re going to keep our focus on that.”

A follow-up stated he really hasn't discussed what went down with Brady at the end and Belichick pointed to the statement the team released once the quarterback signed in Tampa.

“Yeah, we made a statement when Tom left and that covered it," he said.

Is Belichick at all surprised by the success Brady has had in Tampa Bay?

“Tom’s a great player. Nothing surprises me that he does," he said.

Belichick will speak again Wednesday morning and there will be additional questions on this same subject.
