Cam Newton was on the injury report Wednesday for the first time this season, as he was limited with an abdomen injury.
Speaking via video conference Thursday, Bill Belichick was asked if there's any concern with the quarterback getting ready to play Sunday against the Chargers.
"Yeah, we’ll update it as we go through the week here," he said. "Depending on how it goes, if there’s an adjustment we need to make, we’ll make it."
Some jumped at the word "adjustment" and became a little concerned, but we took that as Belichick saying the team would adjust his status on the injury report if needed, and not anything relating to the QB position.
If for whatever reason Newton cannot play and things worsen over the course of the week, Jarrett Stidham would be in line for his first NFL start.
The Patriots will take on the Chargers Sunday in L.A. and then stay out west before taking on the Rams next Thursday.
