the rich keefe show: Eliot Wolf expected to be in charge of personnel dept. with Patriots
There will still be a Belichick coaching football in Foxborough in 2024.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, safeties coach Brian Belichick will remain with the Patriots' defensive staff next season. He is the youngest son of former New England head coach Bill Belichick.
The retainment of Brian comes on the heels of his older brother, Steve, leaving the organization this week to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Washington under head coach Jedd Fisch.
Both Belichick sons were given the opportunity to remain on new-head coach Jerod Mayo's staff, according to multiple reports.
Brian began his career working with his father and the Patriots in 2016 as a scouting assistant before moving to the coaching side in 2017. He has been the team's safeties coach since 2020.
While it's not official that he'll remain in the position in 2024, Reiss worded it as "a role he could fill under Mayo".
Belichick's retention marks the third hire Mayo has made on his new defensive staff. DeMarcus Covington was named defensive coordinator last Thursday, with Jerry Montgomery reportedly being hired as defensive line coach on Monday.
