Could Houston turn into Patriots South?

Appearing on First Things First, former Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini believes the Texans' head-coaching job is Josh McDaniels', and then he threw out a wild combination for coordinators.

“I think it’s Josh McDaniels’ job. I can see Josh McDaniels going there — him and Nick [Caserio] played college football together," he said. "He brought Nick into the league. I could see Matt Patricia being the defensive coordinator, Adam Gase being the offensive coordinator — they worked together at Michigan St. You’ve already got the system in place because it’s been the Patriots system. You’ve got Romeo Crennel there.

"To me, this is the ideal job for Josh McDaniels because he’s there with a guy he’s absolutely aligned with, who has a six-year contract and you’ve got a quarterback.”

It's worth noting plugged in Texans reporter John McClain has reported McDaniels will not be their next head coach. But until a hire is made, McDaniels should never completely be dismissed given his history with Caserio as well as Jack Easterby.
