On Monday, Bill Belichick said the team isn't there with playing both Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham appearing on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria.

Christian Fauria, who asked the question, likes the idea and made his case on Tuesday's show.

“Yes. They should do this because the two quarterback system I feel like is slowing becoming — I feel like the NFL has been flirting with this for awhile, going all the way back to Kordell Stewart when he first got into the league," he said. "How do you get as many of your athletes on the field at the same time? First step.

“Then, get as many athletes on the field at the same time that can throw the football. I do feel like that is a definite plus. If you look at finding roles, you have all these athletically gifted guys and how do they compliment the starter. So, I would say that if you have two quarterbacks that are the same then I think it’s a waste. That’s the whole if you have two quarterbacks you have none. Not if each of the guys have two different sets of skills and they can each bring something to the table that’s different.

“So, you have a Stidham and a Cam. We know what Cam can do and I think we all understand what Stidham can do. I feel like if you at least put together a Stidham package, a Stidham package where, ‘Listen, you’re going to have 20 plays. We’re going to slowly implement you into the offense just to make sure the defense has something else to worry about.’ I don’t see why that is some crazy notion like they can’t accomplish that.”

The Patriots have three games the rest of the season to potentially implement it.
