Bill Belichick just turned 69 years old and has been the head coach of the Patriots for over 20 years.

How many years does he have left and who will take over when once he's done are questions that have been asked from time-to-time over the last several years.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show Wednesday, NFL Media's Peter Schrager was asked that question, specifically related to Matt Patricia, who is back in New England after being fired by Detroit.

“The fact of the matter is there is a really interesting dynamic there where you have two Belichick children who are coaches on the staff," Schrager said. "You also have Josh McDaniels, who has been waiting in the wings for quite a long time. And then you have Matt Patricia, but Belichick has given no indication that he is hanging it up any time soon.

“I have asked for years now, is the reason McDaniels didn’t take that Colts job because he was given some agreement under the table that he will be the next Patriots head coach? I don’t think there was that agreement and it certainly wasn’t made public if there was. I think it is still up for debate as to who the next one is.

“I know how much they respect Patricia in that building and I know that Patricia's experience in Detroit might not have gone perfect as a head coach but that doesn't mean there's any less respect for him in New England for the work that he does.”
