WEEI Super Bowl Brunch - Is this a Chiefs dynasty?
Jerod Mayo apparently even works during the Super Bowl.
According to SI's Albert Breer on Sunday night, the Patriots are hiring Tiquan Underwood as assistant wide receivers coach.
Underwood played nine seasons in the NFL (including 2011 with the Patriots). He caught 63 passes for 1,006 yards and six touchdowns from 2009-2017. Underwood was infamously cut by New England on February 4, 2012, the night before Super Bowl XLVI, before being re-signed two days later.
The 36-year-old Underwood has been in coaching since 2018, starting at Lafayette as their wide receivers coach before heading to the Miami Dolphins as an offensive quality control coach. He's since coached with Rutgers from 2020-2021 and the University of Pittsburgh as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator since 2022.
He joins the following Patriots offensive coaching staff:
-- Alex Van Pelt, offensive coordinator
-- Ben McAdoo, senior offensive assistant
-- T.C. McCartney, quarterbacks
-- Scott Peters, offensive line
-- Robert Kugler, offensive line
