J.C. Jackson has been one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in recent years.

Jackson has the most interceptions in the NFL since 2018 (23) and is scheduled to be a free agent for the first time in his career following this season.

“I love playing for the New England Patriots, playing under Coach Belichick. I have grown as a football player since I’ve been here,” Jackson said to reporters via video conference Friday. “It’s a place that gave me a chance from Day 1. I would love to be a New England Patriot for a long time.”

He added: “I’m a football player, I’m not an agent. So when it comes to negotiating contracts I’ll leave that up to my agent. I’ll let them deal with that stuff and I’ll just focus on football. That’s how I look at it. That’s how I control the situation.”

With all the interceptions Jackson has, he's likely to cash in on a huge contract next March. It will be interesting to see how much the Patriots will be willing to spend as they do not have a potential future No. 1 corner on their roster, but they also may not have the money Jackson is looking for, and will get from other teams.
