Coming out of the bye week, rookie QB Mac Jones popped up on the Patriots injury report as a late Tuesday addition with a left thumb issue.

Jones has been listed as a full participation in practice the last two days with the injury to his non-throwing hand.

During his Wednesday afternoon press conference at Gillette Stadium, the New England quarterback downplayed the issue.

“My thumb's good,” Jones said, going on to declare that his injury report status wasn’t related to anything that specifically happened in practice on Tuesday.

Jones then seemed to indicate his inclusion on the injury report was simply to fulfill NFL requirements.

“It’s just a, I had to be put on there but it’s good,” Jones said, holding his hand up for all to see. “I mean there is nothing wrong with it. I think it’s just, it has to be on there for protection and stuff.”

Jones did wear a glove on his left hand during the media viewing portion of Patriots practice on Wednesday. Not surprisingly, he was asked about the glove and whether it’s something new.

“I’m just trying it out. All the other quarterbacks were wearing a glove so I wanted to copy them,” Jones said with a big smile and chuckle. “It’s good. I mean, whether you have a glove on or not you just have to do what you’re supposed to do as a quarterback. So play fakes and all that are important and getting the ball to the right guy. You’re left hand’s not super important but there are things that you need to use if for.”
