Training camp is just a few short weeks away and to get ready for it, we will be unveiling a 21 questions about the Patriots series relating to the upcoming season. Be sure to check back almost every day to see a new question.
Who will lead the Patriots in sacks in 2021?
The Patriots are going to have a very good defense in 2021 and it won’t be just because of a few star players. They will have a ton of depth and rotate a number of players in and out.
This will be especially true in the front-seven and edge rushers.
When it comes to pass rushers who could pick up sacks, Kyle Van Noy, Anfernee Jennings, Matt Judon, Josh Uche, Chase Winovich, Deatrich Wise, Dont’a Hightower and Ronnie Perkins are all top candidates.
But who will have the most?
We like Van Noy based on his past experience in the system. In 2019 he had 6.5 sacks and it likely will be a similar result this coming season, which could be enough to lead the team. With all the players that will be rotated in, it seems unlikely a player will have double-digit sacks. Expect multiple players to be in the 4-7 range with Van Noy certainly being one of them.
Uche is another candidate as we expect him to make a big Year 2 jump.
Who do you think it will be?
