Optimism is high after Patriots minicamp
Earlier Thursday, local reports indicated that DeAndre Hopkins and the New England Patriots had a “productive visit.” Thursday evening, it seems things have kicked up a notch.
According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, the Patriots are “making a push” for Hopkins. It appears the Patriots, who reportedly put Hopkins through a full workout earlier, are making a play for the five-time Pro Bowl receiver. Nothing has been done yet, nor has there been any confirmation of any future visits to other teams for the three-time NFL All-Pro pass catcher, who ran into one of his biggest supporters in Foxboro during his visit.
These are about as many positives as one could hope to take away after a visit without confirmation of an offer sheet or terms agreed upon. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had previously reported it made sense for Hopkins to wait until training camps begin to sign a deal, though it appears the Pats may be looking to sway that stance. Pacman Jones, a friend of D-Hop, appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” Thursday and said he didn’t think D-Hop would leave New England without a deal.
