6 rings: Wednesday stat day: A look at the numbers from the Patriots’ 38-3 loss to Cowboys
There’s a reunion on the horizon.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots have traded for cornerback J.C. Jackson from the Los Angeles Chargers.
New England signed Jackson as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland in 2018. He played four seasons in Foxborough and was an All-Pro in 2021, hauling in 17 interceptions over his final two seasons.
Heading into his 2022 free agency, Jackson signed a massive five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. He has, however, struggled in Los Angeles over the last 18 months. He’s played poor football, ruptured his patellar tendon, been inactive, and just last week, a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear at a court hearing in Massachusetts on traffic charges.
With injuries to Jack Jones, Marcus Jones, Jonathan Jones, and now Christian Gonzalez in the cornerback room, Jackson adds a familiar face who can hopefully rejuvenate a once promising career.
