6 rings & football things: Mike Kadlick joins the show to react to Mac Jones being traded
Though the Patriots swung and missed on now-Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley, they're reportedly not done sniffing around the market for a pass catcher.
According to MassLive's Mark Daniels, New England is "showing interest" in former Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd.
Boyd, standing at 6-foot-2, has logged two 1,000+ yard receiving seasons during his eight-year career in Cincinnati, but both his workload and production have decreased a bit since 2020 after the team selected Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase in back-to-back drafts. His effectiveness, however, is still there when called upon.
Despite not having a clear connection to New England, now-Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt will likely look to run a West Coast-adjacent system in Foxborough, a scheme Boyd is familiar from his time with the Bengals.
The Steelers have also reportedly shown interest in signing Boyd -- who grew up in Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh.
Daniels is also reporting that New England is "exploring" the rest of the free agent wide receiver market. Whomever they potentially bring in will join a room with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, and Jalen Reagor. The team designated DeVante Parker for release on Wednesday, and he's since agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles.
