Ladies and gentlemen, the Patriots have signed a tackle.
On Monday, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo posted on X.com that the Patriots and former Jets right tackle Morgan Moses have agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth $24 million.
Garafolo went on to say that the deal could be worth as much as $28.5 million, adding, “The Pats add an experienced, reliable veteran in front of Drake Maye while Moses gets a raise and multi-year deal at age 34.”
During his 11-year career with Washington, Baltimore and New York, Moses has played almost exclusively on the right side of the offensive line. In all 14 games Moses played in for the Jets in 2024, he continued in that role as the team’s right tackle.

According to Pro Football Focus, Moses allowed 2 sacks and 16 total quarterback pressures in 2024, ranking him as PFF's 51st offensive tackle after finishing 13th in 2022 and 10th in 2023. With that said, Moses was dealing with an MCL injury for most of last season, hampering his play as he battled through injury to stay on the field.
“He is 34,” Garafolo said on NFL Network shortly after breaking the news. “Yeah, you’re seeing that, you say, ‘Oh, he’s up there.’ But he’s reliable, he’s shown the ability to play through injuries. He had an MCL injury last year that he played through for the Jets. Jeff Ulbrich, the interim coach, was gushing one day about what he means to the locker room and how he goes about his business.
“So the Patriots just added a ton of reliability, a ton of professionalism in the form of Morgan Moses, who I’ve been told feels like he’s got five good years left in his NFL career. So he’s got that three-year deal, he got a multi-year deal at 34, he got a raise, and that’s because he feels like he’s got good football left. Obviously, the Patriots agree with this deal done.”
Whether he ends up playing on the left or right side of the line, Moses will immediately bring credibility to a unit that was among the worst in the NFL last season. Here’s how each primary offensive linemen graded out against their peers at their respective positions by PFF in 2024:
- OT Demontrey Jacobs, 81st out of 81
- OT Vederian Lowe, 69th out of 81
- G Layden Robinson, 74th out of 77
- G Mike Onwenu, 33rd out of 77
- C Ben Brown, 39th out of 40
So with one tackle figured out, now it’s time to figure out the other side of the line of scrimmage.

Could this be a sign that the Patriots will be taking LSU’s Will Campbell at No. 4 overall, despite his comparatively short wingspan among his peers at the position? Is Moses the insurance policy for Campbell that MassLive’s Karen Guregian wrote about in her column on Thursday?
With top tackle free agent Ronnie Stanley agreeing on Saturday to return to Baltimore on a three-year deal worth $60 million, along with a bevy of other name-tackles coming off the free agency board shortly after the “legal tampering” window opened at noon on Monday, the Patriots are running out of options to pair with Moses on the other side of the line.
Here’s a list of the remaining available top NFL free agent offensive tackles for 2025:
- Mekhi Becton, Philadelphia Eagles (25 years old, played tackle until last season)
- George Fant, Seattle Seahawks (32 years old)
