Hunter Henry did not appear in any of the three preseason games due to a shoulder injury, but it seems like it won't keep him off the field for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against Miami.

“I wouldn’t say doubt,” Henry said when asked if he has any doubt he’ll be in uniform Sunday when speaking to reporters Monday afternoon.

The veteran also added he's “excited to go out there and compete with [Mac Jones] this weekend.”

Henry missed multiple training camp sessions and was limited once he returned with a shoulder injury suffered Aug. 9. He sported a red non-contact jersey as well, but he shed that about a week ago.

The Patriots heavily invested in the tight end position this offseason with not only Henry, but Jonnu Smith as well.

Even though the two have not been on a game field together this preseason, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is feeling good with where they are at.

“I think both of them have worked extremely hard,” he said Monday. “I feel very confident in both players’ aptitude and understanding of our system and our operation and what we do offensively and what their roles are in it. That’s because they’re very diligent about the work they put in. They prepare very well.

"... “I have no doubts about those two players in terms of their ability to go out there and perform. They’ll both be ready to go.”

Both players figure to play big roles in the offense this season.
