Jones and mego: Bill Belichick has run out of excuses
The Patriots made two more roster moves on Tuesday prior to beginning their week of Broncos prep on Wednesday.
The team placed cornerback J.C. Jackson on the reserve/non-football illness list and signed running back Kevin Harris to their active roster.
Jackson was active for New England's game vs. the Chiefs on Sunday, but was not spotted on the sideline and didn't take a snap. When asked about the situation postgame, head coach Bill Belichick told the media that Jackson "wasn't available" and that he'll "leave it at that."
Late Sunday night, MassLive's Karen Guregian reported that Jackson missing Sunday's game was due to a "personal matter coming up" and his agent later told ESPN that Jackson is "dealing with mental health issues." Alex Austin started at cornerback in his place.
As for the subsequent roster move, Kevin Harris is signing to the Patriots' active roster after two practice squad elevations in consecutive weeks due to Rhamondre Stevenson's ankle injury.
The second-year running back ran for 25 yards and a touchdown on four carries against Kansas City, and has now earned a spot on the 53-man roster.
Here's the full list of transactions the Patriots officially made since Sunday:
- Claimed QB Nathan Rourke off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars
- Placed G Cole Strange on injured reserve due to a knee injury
- Signed RB Kevin Harris to the 53-man roster from the practice squad
- Placed CB J.C. Jackson on the reserve/non-football illness list
- Signed DB William Hooper to the practice squad
- Signed RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn to the practice squad
